Having met when the two travelled to Cambodia together, and subsequently roomed together for the entire 12 day cycle trip around the country, a bromance soon formed.
Learning about Jacko made him an automatic inclusion for the show. Outgoing, engaging, real and blood funny, Jacko has an incredible past that he now shares as a motivational speaker. Oh and he’s only 21 years old.
While holding a little of the real Queenslander back to ensure this was’t just a profanity filled conversation, Jacko still comes up with the most to the point (and NSFW) messages for a new manhood there is.
In what was the first show we filmed, we covered a lot of questions, leading to this being a slightly fuller interview than most – hence the length. Some great stuff in here though.

We hear from Jacko about his work as a presenter and what he sees working with boys and men. He explains his observations around boys not knowing how to find their own direction and true selves.
This expands into some of the biggest issues Jacko sees facing us men, including messaging we get and conditioning that becomes around what we should be and are allowed to do.
Mike then ask Jacko about the things he struggles to talk about and the struggle in dealing with such a life changing event as a 17 year old.
We wrap up this conversation with Jacko sharing the bigger conversation he thinks needs to be had.
We initially hear about Jacko and his story from promising footy (rugby league) player to living changing mindless incident, and how this has had a profound impact on his perspective and day to day life.
We hear from Jacko about his work as a presenter and what he sees working with boys and men. He explains his observations around boys not knowing how to find their own direction and true selves.
Jacko then goes on to explain where he was influenced in his ideas of manhood, touching on his father and the importance of a mentor. He dives into what he learned, most pertinently being there for others.
From this Mike challenges Jacko on his willingness to give to others but struggle to receive it in return; the battle between ego and accepting personal responsibility.

Mike then ask Jacko about the things he struggles to talk about and the struggle in dealing with such a life changing event as a 17 year old.
We hear about some specific conversations Jacko has avoided in the past and then a conversation he dreaded beforehand but stepped into anyway. Mike and Jacko get into some strategy around this.
Mike quizzes Jacko on his personal code and value set in which Jacko shares his belief in saying yes to opportunities.
From here Mike temporarily stumps Jacko on what his biggest drivers are, before he comes up with something pretty solid for a 21 year old.
On the other side of the same coin Mike questions Jacko on his big fears and the things he doesn’t talk about, like depression.
Jacko then talks about what he thinks has given him his particular perspective, including the power in facing adversity.
Rounding out the interview Jacko shares the one person he’d love to chat with, an example of a time he didn’t have the conversation where he wished he had, and the bigger conversations he sees as necessary, both in his own life and on a bigger scale.
