JuVan’s personal story is one of challenge, adversity and vulnerability. He shares his path from a disrupted and challenging upbringing to becoming a man of strength, purpose and immense value, giving back and inspiring other men.
This was a fun conversation to have, however, it was on short notice when I (Mike) was in LA, so while filming literally in a film directors house in the Hollywood hills, we ironically had limited camera equipment. This is to say, you’ll see some shots of lower quality, but the conversation is of the highest order, so strap in and get your learn on.

JuVan notes that he has had to start embracing and sharing the stories of abuse, isolation and fear of connecting with men in order to best serve others now.
JuVan shares what dictates a lot of his actions, and his importance on investing in relationships and being around good people.
Mike and JuVan then discuss manhood and the difference between being a man and being good and being a man.
This extends into the bigger conversation JuVan is having and continually working to have in order to help men create and live their legacy.

JuVan shares what dictates a lot of his actions, and his importance on investing in relationships and being around good people in order to deepen interactions.
Mike challenges JuVan on how he handles or approaches asking for help, as they discuss how common it is for men to focus on giving, but struggling to receive, which as JuVan puts it – breaks the cycle.
Mike and JuVan then discuss manhood and the difference between being a man and being good and being a man. JuVan also shares some of the work he does with boys in distinguishing boyhood from manhood, such as focusing on characteristics vs. physical traits.
The guys talk about creating a safe space for men to dive deeper, and JuVan shares his passion for being vulnerable with mates to create a bond of solidarity in sharing and talking about the bigger stuff.
JuVan touches briefly on his experience in Australia and New Zealand and noticing the closed off and guarded nature of the men in a ‘hyper’masculine’ energy, resulting in an inability to fully connect.
We wrap up with the bigger conversation JuVan is having and continually working to have in order to help men create and live their legacy, as well as a heart felt and genuine piece of gratitude from JuVan (to which I – mike – am truly grateful for).
